MMinE-SwEEPER launched a new “Resources - Munitions in the Sea” Zotero library, compiling relevant publications in one structured and freely accessible collection. Intended especially to support early-career researchers and others entering the field, the library is a living resource built by and for the community, with experts invited to suggest new publications and help refine the collection.
Finding relevant scientific literature on munitions in the sea just became easier. As a new resource developed within MMinE-SwEEPER, the “Resources - Munitions in the Sea” Zotero library gathers publications from across the field in one growing, structured, and freely accessible bibliography.
The initiative supports one of MMinE-SwEEPER’s objectives: converging existing knowledge on munitions in the sea and making it more accessible to a wider community. Research on the topic spans numerous disciplines, from marine chemistry, ecotoxicology, and oceanography to mapping technologies, risk assessment, remediation, history, and governance. Relevant publications can therefore often be difficult to identify, particularly for researchers, practitioners, and officials who are new to the field.
The Zotero library bridges this gap and makes it easier to navigate through the knowledge resources. Publications are tagged and categorised, allowing users to search the collection according to their specific interests and to quickly identify relevant studies. While intended as a resource for the entire Munitions in the Sea community, it is particularly designed to provide a useful starting point for exploring the existing body of research.
Importantly, the library is not a static collection. It is a living resource, built by and for the community. Researchers and practitioners are encouraged to help expand and improve it by flagging new publications, identifying relevant literature that may still be missing, or suggesting adjustments to the structure and categorisation.
