Aarhus University, founded in 1928, is a prominent Danish institution with campuses in Aarhus, Herning, Emdrup, and research locations in Greenland and Tenerife. The Department of Environmental Science, located at Risø near Roskilde, conducts interdisciplinary research in environmental ecology, chemistry, and the impact of environmental issues on society. With around 150 employees, the department specializes in air quality monitoring and provides research-based advice on environmental policy, particularly in the Arctic and Denmark. It plays a key role in national and international efforts to address air pollution and climate change.
