ESAB: Enhancing MMinE-SwEEPER’s Impact with Diverse Expertise

MMinE-SwEEPER’s External Stakeholder Advisory Board (ESAB) has been established with six international members from diverse backgrounds to provide independent evaluation and feedback to the MMinE-SwEEPER project.

We are thrilled to announce the formation of MMinE-SwEEPER’s External Stakeholder Advisory Board (ESAB), which consists of six members from six countries not represented in the MMinE-SwEEPER community, including the Netherlands, Romania, Estonia, Turkey, the United States, and two intergovernmental organizations. The members bring a diverse range of expertise, including science, military, industry, governmental, and intergovernmental backgrounds.

The establishment of the ESAB is a great opportunity to shape the future of the MMinE-SwEEPER project and support the removal of unexploded ordnance from European waters. The ESAB members will act as independent evaluators, offering feedback to the consortium. They will contribute their expertise to identify any missing content in MMinE-SwEEPER, enhancing its impact and relevance. Additionally, they will support the General Assembly by providing valuable input based on their expertise and perspectives on specific needs. Last but not least, MMinE-SwEEPER will profit from the distribution of information into their specific communities.

An online information meeting was held in April 2025, led by the coordinator, to provide an overview of the project's objectives and tasks. In the future, the ESAB members will attend dedicated parts of the online Executive Board meetings at least twice a year to stay informed about progress in the work packages and be able to provide advice. They will also meet in person at our mid-term meeting in September 2026 and the final meeting in February 2028. Members of the ESAB are committed to a first term of two years, renewable once, allowing them to witness the progress and results of the project.

After more than six months of engineering and supplier negotiations, SeaTerra is proud to announce that welding works have finally started at the SeaTerra workshop in Seevetal/Germany.

We are excited to have their valuable expertise on board!
