Poland

The Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) was founded in 1983 in place of the Marine Station in Sopot, which had existed since 1953. It brings together Marine Chemistry, Oceanography, and Marine Biology, employing more than 100 scientists and 30 PhD students. IO PAN is coordinating the MUNIMAP project and the EROVMUS project and participates in the MMinE-SwEEPER and MUNI-RISK projects, all of them dealing with sea-dumped munitions.

Role in MMinE-SwEEPER

IOPAN leads the WP11 - Integration of best practices and development of education material.
